Development efforts

Thanks to the generous support of the Mellon Foundation, DiRT is undergoing a period of technical development that will result in a number of new site features, including:

  • Rebranding and relaunch for DiRT as the "DiRT Directory" at (July 2014)
  • A Commons In A Box plug-in that provides access to DiRT from within that platform
  • APIs that enable programmatic access to tool listings
  • Information about what projects are using a given tool (from DHCommons)
  • TaDiRAH taxonomy terms for every tool
  • A new system for submitting tool reviews
  • "Recipes" or workflows that document how tools can be used together to address research questions

DiRT receives grant for partnerships with Commons In A Box, DHCommons

The University of California, Berkeley and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York are pleased to announce that the Mellon Foundation has generously provided a $150,000 grant to fund a partnership between the DiRT (Digital Research Tools) Directory, Commons In A Box, and the DHCommons project directory that will develop APIs to link these initiatives, providing new ways for scholars and students to connect with digital research tools.
