Captivate is software for recording audio and video of a user's screen. Users can import PowerPoint slides and add rich media, simulations, and quizzes, and publish them to learning management systems that support the SCORM standard.
We had a good go at trying to get Captivate to do what we wanted it to (different formats of online language tests) and gave up in frustration. Articulate's Storyline, whilst more costly, proved to be a much better solution for us - and for many others too given the reviews we found.
